I love sweet potatoes.

It’s after I came to Japan I then start to like it. Perhaps it’s the weather that causes it. Sweet potatoes are quite filling, it helps a lot to keep from the cold.

Kids love sweet potatoes too. I always wrap it with newspaper, put into oven for about 10 minutes. It comes out hot and nice. The texture, the taste, and the burnt smell. Full of warmth.

The elderly sometime talk about how bad it was at war time. Sweet potatoes had become the only food that keep the strength to survive at war. Too hard to imagine, but I could feel that it must be blessing to have sweet potatoes at a cold day.
