Review: My To-Do List of 2009

without comments

I should have done this end of last year, but anyway. I am not a good planner. But, a look back, it shows how much things you “see” through this little to-do list. I am so looking forward to doing this yearly. OK, will add that onto the list: Do a review end of the year
Travel
  • Make a trip to overseas with my family; either California where my niece lives, or New York/Washington to see When Harry Met Sally, or The Catcher in the Rye, or Woody Allen Made it to California of San Francisco and Sacramento last August!
  • I would love to make more travel back to Malaysia and Singapore. I want to have more time with the local, to find out more business chances that I can do besides my main job. I can’t imagine having business with other regions if I can’t start anything from where I know of. Made it to Malaysia twice, and Hong Kong once. Wow!
  • I don’t think I can make this, it would be great if I can attend FileMaker Developer Conference. I am not a developer, just for your information. I made it to my first FileMaker DevCon!

Personal Projects

  1. Writing (projects): Try to start write my book that I wanted so desperately in Japanese. I have been imagining to write a book but haven’t started it yet. I would like to get it done within 5 years time and get it published in print. I can’t count this as FAIL, as I still am doing it. Might need to achieve some goal in a shorter time frame, may be.
  2. Blog more in English. Read more English books before my English got rotten. Can’t seem to write more as I wanted, but I did. And did read more in English, but not in book form.
  3. Read again all my old books that I bought. I will have to get rid of my books as they have been sitting on my shelf for ages without being read. #FAIL
  4. Pick up some courses; financial business, journalism, or something that keep me motivated. I did. Critical thinking course. Wow, I actually have the mind to get things done, huh?
  5. Organise my personal writing with Tindebox, so I have to upgrade my skills of Tindebox, and make full use of it. Keep track of my stories. #FAIL. Though I just started to get back to Tinderbox again. Uh.
    Restaurant (for the future)
    • Reorganize all the recipe books that I bought. Index them and do a review on each of them. There must be something that makes me buy them. #FAIL
    • Learn about colour of combination, coordination, and psychological point as well, if I have the time #FAIL. No time.
    • Learn about interior design. Collect samples, data of good design, heart-touching one #halfdone
    • Keep my wife’s cooking and photoshoot them, make compliments to remind her she is a good cook. She thinks I am the only one who says nice words to her cooking, which it’s not. #FAIL. She doesn’t cook that much for any photo taking.
    • I can’t run business, so I will do my way from the idea contribution, from food to taste, and interests of targets. #FAIL. But, this is an interesting comment that I did. In fact, I started a restaurant inventory solution with FileMaker for a new client.
Financial
  • Learn about tax, investment #FAIL
  • do my personal accounting wisely #FAIL
  • use my money wisely (do I sound like an idiot?) #FAIL
That’s all, I think it is enough to keep me busy for the whole year, if I can keep it.

My To-Do List of 2009

Back from Malaysia Last Friday

without comments

Went back home for about 10 days to do my new passport. Believe it or not, I totally forgot about the expiry of my passport, which was last year July. Anyway, I got a brand new passport now, and I am back to Japan last Friday night.

I could have done it over at the Embassy of Malaysia in Tokyo, somehow it might take 3 to 4 months as told. And I wanted a break, and hence the sudden trip back home. Home is always sweet and nice to be back, anytime. Families are always there for you, for your family as well. Everyone reminded me lots of things, which I myself didn’t remember. Like how many annual leave that I got with my first company (8 days!) What a shame! I guess it’s always the case, people around you remembered more of what you said or thought of than yourself. But, one thing I realised too, I don’t remember lots of things of my own, or even details of everyones. It’s not a good thing I know. Can that be improved? I lack of curiosity, about myself, about the world around me. My goodness.

Will try to write more later, hopefully.

Trip to Niigata

without comments

Back to reality. Niigata’s trip was nice. With all the bad weather reported all over in Japan, we had a good weather for 2 days, and the beach we went was peaceful and nice. The kids enjoyed it very much. I had a swim as well. When was the last time I swam at sea?

So, we were back. Here are a few photos taken while we were on cruise ship at this place called Sasagawa-nagare. The sea was really nice and clear.

A few photos taken while cruising at sea.

We Did Mean to Go to Sea

without comments

It’s been a while that we didn’t go on vacations. The last week of summer holidays now, we are heading to Japan Sea. Jellyfishes have occupied the shore by now, I guess. If we are not back to Tokyo by the weekend, either we got eaten, or kidnapped, you know who is at next door. ;)
