I just watched the movie TransAmerica. Quite an enjoyable one. Though the endng is kind of lousy. But, I guess this movie doesn’t try to deal with the transexual issue, rather the way of dealing with such issue is the key here.

Just recently, I knew someone who is a come-out guy K. He is living with another guy B. B told his family that he is sharing a room with another friend, and the family thought he is just sharing the rent with someone. Now B tries to come out to the family about his real partner. Well, he most probably will be accepted or cut off the relationships with the family, and continue to live with K, which I don’t get the purpose of “coming out” here.

I am not sure of what really the definition of sexuality here. From the conversation and how K deals with such things is that, he is pretty normal to me — I am not saying he and the same type of people cannot be normal —, but what makes him different from me is only his sex life, his partner’s gender. When he talks about such things, he is talking almost to public, means that not only to me, but rather a few of us around, male or female. So, this openness makes me wonder; is there any hurdle for him to come out?

In Japan, there used to have the question whether male society itself is a gay society or not. Manager goes out after work with his staff and they continue to drink till late. Which means that from early morning till late hours, guys are working only with guys. This is like a continuation of army. No rooms for female. Things might have changed, but initially the system itself doesn’t change much.

It is always easy to go out with the similarity; boys play with boys and girls play with girls. Same sex, not always but, tend to think the same, and explanation can be omitted, that makes one feel comfortable. Go for easy life isn’t a bad thing, besides we are born to be a free thinker.

So, what’s my point here?

I feel a big hurdle to talk about such in public. How can I come out with guts? You need balls to do it.
