Heading West West West, Out of Japonica

I in fact have been helping at my friend's company dealing with international prepaid card business since last January, and today will be my last day. From next Monday — to be precise, tomorrow Saturday — I will be joining a new IT firm for a new job. My new job is business development and recruiting of engineers. This is a totally new environment to me. The clients are basically foreign companies based in Tokyo and mostly only speak English. Though I speak English, but I have never imagined that I will be working in such a foreign environment. Oh yes, I forgot that I am a foreigner here. Yeah.

I think there are lots of thing to learn, not at the moment, but a month or so, I should be able to have more time with my family. And I hope to be able to meet more people. I have had enough of desk work. Lazopipo needs update.

This week, I tried to make calls to customers at the present company to announce my leaving (the last time I only used emails!). Though most of them have not met me even once, felt sad — they did use the word — that they no more can hear my voice. I told them I will keep in touch.

And yesterday an African customer was almost shocked to hear that I am leaving. He then asked for my mobile, and later he came to the office. As I don't want to make my present boss feels that I am trying to take away his customer, it's ridiculous I know, but that's how people can be, imaginative, so I don't really talk much especially personal details. Co-incidently he asked my colleague if anyone knows how to make website for him for business. I kept quiet, but I was recommended. When I left, he said he could send me home as it was on his way.

In his car, I learned more about him; he has 6 kids, has been in Japan for more than 20 years, has a big land in Ghana doing corn plantation at the moment. As he still doesn't know how to utilise internet, from his bill, I know he spends lots of money to call back home, to run his plantation. He seemed very excited to know that I can set up a website for him within a day. He has lots of business with Africa.

By the way, the new company that I am going to join, actually was recommended by my Sri Lankan's husband, who is also from Africa.
